How the audience quality score works
Nobody outside Instagram or TikTok can read a follower list, so any “fake follower count” you see online is an estimate. Ours is built from six public engagement signals that purchased audiences consistently fail, each graded and shown on the card so you can see exactly why an account scored the way it did.
| SIGNAL | WHAT WE MEASURE | WHY IT MATTERS |
|---|---|---|
| Engagement vs. accounts this size | Engagement rate against the typical range for the account's follower tier. | Bought followers don't like or comment, so the rate collapses as the follower count inflates. |
| Comments per like | How many comments arrive for every 100 likes. | Purchased likes are cheap and purchased comments are not — a real audience comments at a fairly stable rate. |
| Video views per follower | Median views on recent videos divided by follower count. | The strongest public tell: followers who never watch were never really there. |
| Following vs. followers | How many accounts the profile follows relative to its own audience. | Follow-for-follow growth leaves the two numbers close together, or following ahead. |
| Audience size vs. posting history | Followers per post ever published. | Large audiences take time to earn — a huge following on a handful of posts is hard to explain organically. |
| Post-to-post variation | How much likes vary across the recent posts. | Organic engagement rises and falls with the content; purchased engagement lands in flat, near-identical amounts. |
What the score means
Three bands, matched to how a brand would read the account. The estimate of low-quality followers widens as the score falls — public signals can spot a problem, but can't size it to the decimal.
| SCORE | VERDICT | WHAT IT SUGGESTS |
|---|---|---|
| 80–100 | Looks like a real audience | Public engagement signals line up with how organic audiences behave. |
| 60–79 | Some red flags | A few signals sit outside the normal range — not proof of anything, but a brand would ask questions. |
| 0–59 | High risk of inflated followers | Several signals match the pattern of purchased followers or engagement. |
Why brands care about audience quality
Followers are the cheapest number to fake. A thousand followers costs less than a coffee. Brands know it, which is why follower count alone no longer opens doors.
Every brand runs this check on you. Agencies audit audience quality before they reply to a pitch. Seeing your own score first means no surprises.
Verified beats estimated. Looped connects to your account directly, refreshes your stats every day, and stamps them "Verified by Looped" — so a brand never has to estimate anything.
Frequently asked questions
Does this tell me exactly how many fake followers an account has?
No tool can without reading the follower list, and Instagram and TikTok don't make follower lists public. The checker estimates the share of low-quality followers — inactive, bot and follow-for-follow accounts — from public engagement signals, and shows the range rather than a false-precision number.
What counts as a low-quality follower?
Accounts that never engage: bots, purchased followers, abandoned accounts, and follow-for-follow accounts that followed to be followed back. Every account has some — even clean accounts typically carry around 5% — which is why a perfect score still shows a small estimate.
Can a real account get a low score?
Yes. An account that hides like counts, just went viral on one post, or posts rarely can trip individual signals. That's why the card shows every signal with its reason — read the flags, not just the number. A brand doing due diligence would do the same.
Does the checker work on private accounts?
No — we can only read public profiles. If the account is private, use the manual form: enter followers, following, post count and average likes and comments and you'll get a score graded on the signals those numbers support.
Which posts does it look at?
The 12 most recent public posts. Pinned posts are included; stories are not, since their metrics aren't public.
Is this free? Do I need an account?
